The online marketplace is accepting items in six categories, including phones, tablets, smartwatches, headphones, laptops and consoles.
eBay’s partner Fonehouse – the UK’s largest independent mobile phone and airtime retailer – will inspect, repair and refurbish devices to be sold through the eBay store.
In order to sell their device, users will be asked to enter the model and condition of the device they would like to sell to be given a quote.
If they accept the offer, they will have 14 days to send the device to Fonehouse using the free shipping service which includes insurance coverage from point of posting up to the value of £150.
Once Fonehouse has received the device, it will be checked and its memory will be wiped using an ADISA-accredited solution.
Once the device has been approved, customers can opt to either receive their money through instant eBay coupons or payment directly into a bank account in five to seven days. Those who opt for the coupons will have 48 hours from the point of issuance to redeem them.
To celebrate the launch of the new service, eBay is offering customers who trade in items in working condition an additional £50 on top of the assessed value. The offer started this Monday (9 December 2024) and will end on 3 January 2025.
