The workshops come under the ambit of the European Pathway to Zero Waste (EPOW) and are seen as providing an excellent platform to discuss issues surrounding the delivery of new infrastructure in London and the South East of England.
Adam Read, waste management and resource efficiency practice directorat AEA consultants, which is coordinating the workshops, said: European Pathway to Zero Waste (EPOW) is a partnership between the Environment Agency and WRAP with funding from the European Commissions Life+ programme.
“We want input, opinions and views on how to stimulate development of the infrastructure and systems potentially as much as 2 million tonnes per annum tpa capacity that will be needed to manage business waste across the London and South East (L&SE) region.
Dr Read added: Places are filling up fast as waste companies, planners, local authority officers, funders and other stakeholders take the opportunity to make their views heard. The majority of the workshops are kindly being hosted at leading waste infrastructure sites with delegates having the opportunity to tour the facilities after the workshop.
Partnership
The aim for the workshops is to identify and prioritise actions that can be taken by different groups including the Environment Agency, WRAP, government and others individually or in partnership to unblock barriers and contribute to stimulating development of infrastructure for a resource efficient future.
