Wastelink signs Environment Exchange expert as PRN manager

The Wastelink Group, which runs the UK's second largest packaging waste compliance scheme – Wastepack – has appointed Cliff Laundon as its new PRN manager with immediate effect.

Mr Laundon was previously marketplace operator at the online PRN trading platform The Environment Exchange (t2e). He also brings with him experience in commodity trading gained from nine years working for J Aron, the trading arm of Goldman Sachs.

His new role will see him responsible for the acquisition of packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs), the form of evidence used to show that obligated packaging waste producers have carried out their producer responsibility under the packaging regulations.

Commenting on the appointment, Wastelink chief executive Brian Miller said: “Cliff's extensive experience in certificate and commodity trading will be of considerable benefit to Wastelink in supporting our Wastepack compliance scheme and the recycling activities of our customers.”

Mr Laundon said “I have greatly enjoyed my time with t2e and am very proud to have been able to contribute to its success. I look forward to working closely with it in future. Joining Wastelink is a marvellous opportunity for me and will reduce my commuting distance significantly.”

Replacement
The managing director of the Environment Exchange, Angus Macpherson, said: “When I moved to Edinburgh I asked Cliff to join me from London for a year, he has now given me three years. He has been a tremendous asset to t2e. We have secured Andrew Fendick as a more than able replacement. I thank Cliff for what he has given and wish him well.”
