Catherine Haynes from Stratford-on-Avon was named overall county champion after beating four other finalists others in a quiz based on the local recycling process.
The five finalists who went head-to-head at Market Hall museum were chosen based on their nomination form and the amount of points they earned on the interactive online platform for the Slim Your Bin campaign.
The campaign awards ‘Green Points’ to members of the campaign for their recycling and waste minimisation activities.
Residents
Councillor Jeff Clarke, portfolio holder for transport and environment at Warwickshire County Council announced the winners and presented them with their prizes. He said: “It’s important for us to acknowledge the achievements of our residents and raise the profile of recycling in the county.”
The Warwickshire Recycling Champion of the Year contest is a joint initiative with Warwickshire County Council and Local Green Points to recognise and reward local recycling champions in each of Warwickshire’s five districts and boroughs. It was launched in November 2017.
Local Green Points provides a range of services to local authorities that encourage waste reduction, recycling and reuse, and its local authority clients include 14 London Boroughs. This includes Bexley, Camden and Westminster.
