The vehicles range from skip and tipper lorries, articulated lorries, trailers and 8 wheelers designed for supporting demolition and construction contractors.

The first delivery vehicles was received in mid-March, with more expected in the summer.
Ward explained that the vehicles have “various green features” to reduce energy consumption, as part of plans to be more sustainable.
The vehicles also feature higher wind deflectors to ensure they are “aerodynamic as possible” and technology to offer active feedback to drivers.
All are fitted with 360-degree cameras, cycle safe systems, and designed for driving in central London, with engines that are the latest Euro 6 specification.
Vehicles were ordered through local DAF, Volvo and Scania main dealers.
‘Significant investment’
Donald Ward, operations director at Ward said: “This is another significant investment and commitment to our ongoing sustainability strategy. We continually review our fleet, moving out older vehicles and bringing in more efficient replacements.”

“All these new vehicles have been specifically chosen for fuel economy and safety. We’ve been reviewing miles per gallon achieved by our fleet and each new vehicle has been specified to be as energy efficient as possible, in line with our green motoring policy as part of our sustainability road map to 2030.”
With a turnover in excess of £150million, Ward says it is the largest independent metal and waste recycling company in the East Midlands with six sites in Derbyshire and North Lincolnshire – three in Ilkeston, as well as Swadlincote, Chesterfield and Immingham, providing UK coverage for metal and recycling solutions.
