In just two days, local authorities, service providers and policymakers will gather at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull for the 2025 Collection Conference – a pivotal event for the UK’s waste and recycling sector.

Taking place this Thursday 20 November, this year’s conference arrives at a critical moment for the industry, as the sector prepares for the rollout of Simpler Recycling in April 2026 – the most significant overhaul of waste collection legislation in a generation.

With a packed agenda and a speaker line-up featuring Defra, the Environment Agency, WRAP, BioteCH4, NappiCycle, and more, the conference will explore the latest policy updates, digital tracking systems, collection trials and innovations in waste technology.

What to Expect:

  • Sector overview and policy reform from Margaret Bates (Defra) and Chris Brain (Environment Agency)
  • EPR payment and Simpler Recycling update from LARAC and WRAP
  • Flexible plastics and carton collection from SUEZ and OPRL
  • Technology insights from c-trace and Veolia
  • Case studies on food waste in flats, fire prevention, and the PURA NappiCycle scheme
  • Networking opportunities throughout the day, including lunch and dedicated Q&A sessions

Attendees will also hear how local authorities are preparing for Simpler Recycling, with practical insights on procurement, service changes and public engagement.

Don’t miss your chance to join the conversation, ask questions, and connect with peers shaping the future of municipal waste collections.
