Taylor takes over the manufacture of Plysu boxes

Egbert H. Taylor, the wheeled container manufacturer, is to produce the popular Plysu kerbside box, following Plysu's closure at the start of the year.

The Plysu container is one of the UK’s best-selling domestic kerbside boxes and there was concern from some local authorities that Plysu was not going to release the tool for the manufacturer of the boxes following the company's closure. Councils using the boxes were worried because in areas where kerbside schemes are established, most residents have a Plysu box and replacement boxes made by different companies vary in size and design which causes stacking problems.

Taylor has now bought the tooling, machinery and injection moulding facilities and will produce the box at its facility at Oak Park in Worcestershire.

Alston Taylor, director of EH Taylor, said: “Our customers can now benefit from the unbeatable combination of a proven kerbside container design and Taylor’s renowned manufacturing and quality standards. This move also means we can now provide a ‘one stop shop’ for recycling needs that includes underground waste collection centres,
Continental recycling containers and kerbside collection boxes.”

The box is available in 38 and 55 litre capacities and a variety of colours and is plastic injection moulded for durability.
