Stephen Grundon dies aged 94

Stephen Grundon, founder of Grundon Waste Management, has died at the age of 94.

Mr Grundon passed away peacefully on Saturday September 3 2005 and the funeral is to be held on Thursday September 15 in Hillingdon, Middlesex.

Stephen Grundon was president of the company which he founded in West London back in 1929. His son Norman is the company's chairman and Norman's son Neil is development director.

The business, which is now based in Berkshire, was started by Stephen Grundon as a haulage concern and developed into a successful gravel and sand extraction company during the 1930s. In the following years the company moved into the commercial and industrial waste sector, taking large volumes of waste out of London.

Speaking last September when the company celebrated its 75th anniversary, Stephen Grundon, spoke of his pleasure at seeing the growth of the business and its wide range of activities.

The funeral will be held at 11.15 am at St John The Baptist Church, Royal Lane, Hillingdon, Middlesex on 15th September 2005, followed by a private cremation.
