South Oxfordshire contract sees WRG as favourite

Waste Recycling Group (WRG) has emerged as the favourite to win a contract with Oxfordshire County Council for waste management work in the south of the county.

The work is already carried out by WRG following its acquisition of Hanson Waste Management which was agreed in December 2000 and Hanson owned several landfill sites in the region.

It is expected that the contract will include waste disposal for at least three council areas including the City of Oxford and Vale of White Horse. About 70,000 tonnes of waste will be handled each year.

An announcement is expected from the county council within the next month and work is expected to start in October. Recycling is likely to be included within the waste plan for the area.
