Simsmetal wins aluminium can contract from Alcan

Simsmetal UK of Newport has been appointed by Alcan Aluminium Can Recycling as a new regional processor for South Wales.

The metal recycling company now handles of delvieries of used aluminium beverage cans (UBCs) on behalf of Alcan and transports them to the Alcan recycling plant in Warrington.

The Newport site forms part of Alcan's network of regional process centres into which trade suppliers can deliver, rather than transporting UBCs to Warrington. The process centres undertake quality checks and can bale and palletise UBCs where necessary.

About 74 million aluminium drink cans will be sold in South Wales this year, worth almost 1 million to recyclers.
