A statement said that Mr Scott “agreed to step down” as director general of the two organisations he was responsible for – the Confederation of Paper Industries and the Paper Federation.
Neither the Paper Federation or the Confederation of Paper Industries made reference to any achievements by Mr Scott. Instead it was suggested that both groups felt a new approach was needed.
A statement from the Paper Federation said that Mr Scott's agreement to stand down “allows a new senior team to be put in place and drive changes forward.” Among the plans are a more focused business plan and the creation of much greater awareness externally, especially with the new devolved government departments.
In the interim, Dr Martin Oldman, director of the Corrugated Packaging Association has been appointed acting director general and Kathy Bradley as director of external affairs. Dr Oldman was previously chief executive of the Paper Industry Materials Organisation for three year and was director of business affairs at the Federation.
Kathy Bradley is renowned within the industry for her knowledge of the paper industry, including recycling and forestry issues, and was previously director of communications at the Federation. Mrs Bradley told letsrecycle.com that recycling issues are very important to the Federation “because most of our members are based within the recycling sector, most of the UK paper industry is recycling based.”
