Teams from the public, private and voluntary sectors of the waste management world will come together at University College Northampton to ultimately crown this year's best six-aside football team.
Among the teams hoping to emulate past winners ERM and Biffa will be some of the waste management industry's biggest names including Cleanaway, Onyx, SITA UK, Viridor and WRG.
Other first time entrants in this year's tournament will be container suppliers Plastic Omnium, re-use specialists Green-Works and Hyder Consulting, the consultancy team led by former ERM team captain and Waste World Cup winner Adam Read.
Registration for the tournament is at 10.30am at University College Northampton's Park Campus, with the first matches kicking off at 11am.
Following a group stage, the best 16 sides will go through to a knock out phase that will eventually see two competing to lift the coveted Waste World Cup trophy.
Also up for grabs in the tournament will be the golden boot trophy, which was won last year by letsrecycle.com's Robbie MacAskill – who will be looking to fire his side to the final once again.

Weather
The weather – according to the MET Office – for tomorrow looks as though it will remain fair for the one-day tournament, although organisers are urging teams to take care while playing, since players will not be allowed to wear studs of any kind.
Dr Margaret Bates, who chairs the Waste World Cup Organising Committee, said: “In the interest of fairness all players must play in ordinary trainers. There are players of all levels in the tournament and we don't wish to give advantage to those who play on a regular basis.”
