Together the firms will provide public consultation, community and stakeholder engagement, media relations, public affairs, project and corporate communications and project marketing.

Sauce which is a specialist in recycling, waste management and local planning will be concentrating on local development and behaviour change programmes while 3Gs focus will be on large development projects and stakeholder engagement.

The merger will combine 3Gs major project communications skills with Sauces specialist knowledge of working with infrastructure and waste management companies, and local authorities.

Relaunch

For the first year Sauce will trade as a part of 3G. The consultancy plans to relaunch its combined business in summer 2013.

Claire Gordon, 3Gs founder and MD, said: 3G and Sauce is an exciting meeting of minds, and joining forces will provide considerable enhancements for our clients, staff and services. 3G has an unrivalled knowledge of major projects, particularly in the transport and energy sectors.

“Sauce will supplement this expertise with their creative energy and engaging approach to community involvement. These skills will be particularly important as the energy sector develops and is required to meet the challenges presented by smaller-scale community-sized facilities, smart grids and energy efficiency targets.

Resource efficiency

John Twitchen, Sauces founder and managing director, said: Were delighted to be able to draw on 3Gs expertise and professional reputation within the industry to expand the joint portfolio. This partnership reflects the growing significance of resource efficiency, the green economy and the role of community involvement in infrastructure planning.

Mr Twitchen has previously worked for Cory Environmental and the Environmental Services Association.
