The annual exhibition was previously owned by business-to-business media company Ascential and takes place at the NEC in Birmingham.
According to its website, the Prysm Group has been organising B2B trade exhibitions for over 17 years. The company is responsible for over 25 shows across the UK, which includes the Hazardous Materials Expo – designed to showcase the latest innovations that further the detection, management, testing and removal of hazardous materials.
October
Now, this year’s show is expected to run for just two days, 24-25 October 2018. It will still be held at the NEC but will be run in conjunction with other shows including the Flood Expo and Contamination Expo.
Prysm is understood to be working closely with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) which it sees as a crucial ally in moving the show to October. CIWM has had a commercial interest in the event’s success and has traditionally held a dinner during the Wednesday evening of the show.
CIWM deputy chief executive Chris Murphy, confirmed the sale to Prysm, and described it as a “positive” move for the show.
Supporters
In recent years the event has lost a number of big name supporters and there has been an air of concern among some machinery and equipment suppliers over a reduction in visitor numbers.
