Taking place today (14 September) and tomorrow, the combined, free-to-attend show is one of the largest exhibitions and conferences event in the waste and recycling sector.
The shows offer visitors the opportunity to explore a mix of the innovation, technology and product development in the sector, alongside enjoying expert seminars and presentations.
The anticipation and excitement are palpable, not least because 2022 is set to be the first year in which RWM and Letsrecycle Live have taken place together. Doors opened at 9.30am and the large numbers in the halls reflects the level of enthusiasm and interest. So far, the sunny skies remain clear and the temperature pleasant.
Turnout
Rob Mowat, managing director of the environment division at ROAR B2B, the events company which runs the shows. He said: “It’s amazing to see such a great turnout and it’s set to be a magnificent two days for everyone. Highlights
The free-to-attend event is spread over nearly 50,000m2 of indoor space across five halls and an additional 10,000m2 of outdoor space.
Highlights outside include the ‘Trucks in Action and Street Cleansing’ zones, an outdoor exhibition area and live demonstrations of machinery, as well as the renowned Inn on the Green. With the weather looking promising, these areas are proving more popular than ever.
Among today’s highlights, there will be a panel discussion between several high-profile leaders in resource management, including Anna Willets, president of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management; John Scanlon, CEO of Suez; Mike Maudsley, CEO of Enfinium; Neil Grundon, deputy chairman of Grundon; and Gerry Marshall, CEO of Recycling Lives.
Early in the day, Dr Andy Rees OBE, head of waste strategy at the Welsh Government, will provide updates on the latest developments on a circular economy for Wales.
Net Zero
And, another panel discussion involving Jacob Hayler, executive director of the Environmental Services Association; Ioanna Kyriazi, senior consultant at Ricardo; Heather Plumpton, policy analyst at the Green Alliance; and Mike Tregent, advisor at the Environment Agency, will discuss the role of resource management on the road to net zero.
