Market Drayton-based business A.R. Richards has demerged its operations, creating a new recycling division under the A.R. Richards Group.

The family-run business, which was established in 1980, will now operate through two divisions.

Richards Recycling incorporates the group’s waste management, skip hire, aggregates and builders’ merchant operations, while A.R. Richards will cover the agricultural contracting and plant hire division.

Finance Director Sam Richards said the demerger would allow the businesses to operate more independently.

She commented: “Operating independently allows us to become more streamlined and agile in our functions, meaning we can respond to change and grow more effectively.

“We will remain as a family-run business and provide the same great level of customer service our loyal customers have come to expect.”

Richards Recycling provides waste management services covering collection, recycling and disposal, with its core operating area spanning Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, the Midlands and Mid-North Wales. The company said it can also provide wider UK support for suitable projects.

Its services include waste collection, skip hire, recycling, aggregates and builders’ merchant operations, supporting businesses with waste handling, compliance and cost control.

The company’s Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) process a range of waste streams including general waste, wood, farm waste, inert waste and hazardous materials.

Richards Recycling also provides skip hire for domestic, trade and commercial customers, with sizes ranging from four-yard skips to 40-yard roll-on roll-off (RoRo) containers.

It offers regular Euro Bin and wheelie bin collections across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Wales and surrounding areas.

The recycling division also supplies aggregates across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Mid/North Wales, including crushed rock, sand, gravels, recycled substrates, topsoil and decorative aggregates for construction, agricultural and landscaping projects.

The demerger leaves Richards Recycling focused on its waste, recycling and associated merchant operations, while the separate A.R. Richards division will continue the group’s agricultural contracting and plant hire activities.
