The incident occurred at Rydal Close, Hullbridge in the borough of Rochford at around 11.50 on the morning of November 4. The woman, who has been named as Hullbridge resident Edie Allen, was taken to hospital after sustaining serious leg injuries as a result of the collision. She died on November 29.

Essex Police have confirmed that the collision involved a blue Mercedes refuse vehicle which had been collecting waste in the area at the time.
The circumstances leading to the incident are now being investigated in conjunction with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
In a statement issued last week, Essex Police, said: “An elderly woman has died following a road collision which took place in Rydal Close in Hullbridge on Tuesday, November 4.
“The woman, an 87-year-old from Hullbridge, suffered serious leg injuries as a result of the collision that happened at around 11.50am. She was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment but sadly died at the hospital.”

A spokesman for the SITA UK, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of Mrs Allen.
“The incident, which occurred on November 4, is subject to an on-going police investigation and SITA UK is cooperating fully with this process.
“Furthermore, SITA UK has notified the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of the incident and internal investigations are currently taking place.”
Local reports claim that three of the operatives working on the vehicle at the time are no longer working for the company, after the driver resigned and two others were sacked, but SITA said it could not confirm the validity of these reports.
The spokesman added: “SITA UK can’t comment on the outcome of internal disciplinary investigations.”
A spokesperson for Rochford council, said: “We have been made aware that a Hullbridge resident has sadly passed away following a road traffic accident involving a SITA UK vehicle.
“Our thoughts are with the lady’s family at this sad time.”
