Pakawaste helps minimise waste volumes at Meadowhall

Waste reduction equipment supplier Pakawaste Ltd of Preston has further strengthened its relationship with the Meadowhall shopping and leisure centre in Sheffield, by supplying the site with a further static waste compactor to compliment the fourteen compactors already there.

Pakawaste Ltd has been supplying waste reduction and recycling equipment to Meadowhall since the centre opened in 1990 and has continuously worked with staff to develop and innovate recycling and waste management policies over the past ten years.

Pakawaste Ltd has recently installed a Powerkrush 85 static compactor with rear end loader in the service area located outside the centre’s large Boots store. The Powerkrush 85 is fitted with a unique loading system to facilitate both the hand loading of waste and tipping of 1100 litre wheeled bins containing cardboard waste.

The Powerkrush 85 is one of the largest static compactors in Pakawaste’s Powerkrush range. Waste volumes can be reduced by a ratio of approximately 5:1, allowing Meadowhall to make significant savings on their waste disposal and transportation costs, says Pakawaste.

By containerising their waste in this way the centre is able to better maintain a clean and tidy site, free of the problems traditionally associated with the storage of waste. Once full, the compaction container is simply removed from the Powerkrush 85 and replaced with an empty one, meaning that Meadowhall is never left without essential compaction facilities.
