Additional questions have been added to the consultative section of their website to help the PIU study reviewing UK obligations for waste management. The deadline for responses is the 31st July, and the PIU is expected to publish the final report by October of this year.
A PIU spokesman told letsrecycle.com: “The PIU study is ongoing and is due to report in the autumn. We have held a variety of workshops to get the views of a wide range of waste stakeholders on subjects such as waste minimisation, recycling, planning and incineration.”
He added: “The team have recently updated their list of questions and areas for further study on their website and welcome views on these.”

Based in Admiralty Arch, London, the PIU reports directly to the prime minister through the cabinet secretary, Sir Richard Wilson. It works on individual projects using small teams drawn from within the government and the wider public, private and voluntary sectors.
The PIU waste study was started last December with the aim of producing a strategy for England to meet the EU landfill directive and to move to a more sustainable waste management system.
