The Agency told letsrecycle.com the charges against Mark and Jonathan Nicholson from Armagh, Northern Ireland, relate to alleged environmental offences committed between October 2016 and September 2017.
The pair are listed as directors of now-dissolved Greenway Polymers on Companies House.
In a statement, the Agency said the charges “do not directly concern the present incident at the site”.
The “present incident” relates to a fire which has been ongoing for more than three weeks at an abandoned recycling facility near Telford. The site was previously run by Greenway Polymers before the company was dissolved four years ago.
Firefighters remain on the scene today (19 May) “scaling down” the blaze.
‘Work continuing’
In an incident update, Shropshire fire and rescue service, assistant chief fire officer Dan Quinn said: “We can confirm that the building – which is metal sheeted with a steel structure and roller shutter doors – does not consist of asbestos-containing material and no materials containing asbestos have been found within the waste on the site.
“Work is continuing in the most cost-effective way to drag waste from the building so it can be extinguished and then processed for safe storage on site. We have worked through around 10per cent of the waste with an expectation that the incident will be resolved within a few weeks if our teams are able to continue safely at this rate.”
