Finalists unveiled for LARAC 2022 Awards

The shortlisted finalists for the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee’s (LARAC) prestigious annual awards have been unveiled.

Last year's ceremony was held in person for the first time since 2019

The awards are now in their 14th year and will be held on the first night of the LARAC’s annual conference, which takes place on 5-6 October at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham.

The awards ceremony allows visitors to recognise the successes of different local authorities over the past year in a range of achievements. A full list of those shortlisted can be found below.

This year has seen the reveal of a new category – the circular economy achievement award, where some of the listed finalists include Bristol Waste Company, Essex County Council and Islington Council in partnership with ReLondon. Other categories cover six topics from communications to teamwork to ideas.

The shortlist was compiled by judges drawn from across the industry including Cathy Cook, chair of LARAC; John Coates, LARAC’s head of external affairs; Steve Eminton, editor of letsrecycle.com; Hilary Tanner, adviser at the Local Government Association; Debbie Slater, local authority technical consultant at WRAP.
