FCC Environment has reported the Offham landfill solar park is set to generate around 11,000 MWh each year, which is enough to power 2700 homes.

As part of the construction plans, Infinis has highlighted that it has added a range of “biodiversity enhancements” including increasing species and meadow height on site, to enhance grassland condition, encouraging the growth of lower-growing flowering species, planting 16 new standard trees and planting around 200m of new hedgerow and enhancing the quality of around 1.3km of existing hedgerow.

It has also said that a public right of way will be installed on the site.

‘Support’

Andrew Leeding, director of development and construction at Infinis, commented: “Offham Solar Park will support national objectives to achieve Net Zero, helping to boost renewable energy supply and security.

“This is our third solar park partnership with FCC Environment, following the successful delivery of the Winterton project and work progressing at Boston. We’re delighted to continue this positive partnership and look forward to further extending our portfolio in the years ahead.”

‘Delighted’

Mark Cheetham, general manager, landfill, at FCC Environment, said: “We’re delighted to be working on our third project with Infinis, as we look to utilise our considerable land holdings to generate clean electricity.

“The Government has a target of 70GW of solar PV by 2035, and projects such as this will play an important role in achieving it.”

Energised

Offham Landfill Solar Park is due to be energised in the second half of 2024. Ethical Power is the principal contractor for the development, with UK Power Networks delivering the grid works.
