In a statement issued today (September 17), managing director Peter Dyer said: “It is with a great deal of sadness that I announce to the industry that Failand Paper Services Ltd will be put into administration. I do not believe we will ever come out of this position and the company will cease.”
Mr Dyer said that “by way of an explanation to the people and companies which have suffered as a result of our demise, I would like to make it clear that we as a company have done no wrong or acted irresponsibly.”
And, he added that problems had arisen with a distressed shipment and he felt that the company had faced incurring an excessive amount of the costs involved, “eventually leading to a serious reduction in the supply of material.”
Thanks
Giving his thanks to the sector for their support in the past, he remarked: “I can only apologise profusely to the companies that have been affected, there was no intent.”
Failand has been an important broker involved in the export of recovered paper to Chinese and other overseas paper mills.
On the company’s website it explained Failand’s work in more detail, noting: “We liaise between paper mills and suppliers, taking orders for required waste paper amounts and grades, and fulfilling these orders by requesting from our suppliers. We also provide a reversal of this service; should suppliers have a load, or loads, of waste paper they need a buyer for, we will contact our Mills to establish whether they have a use for the particular grade or grades in question.”
