The UNTHA XR shredder had initially been configured for operators producing waste derived fuels but after six months of testing, new configurations make it suitable for biomass and wood recycling, the company claims.

It will be available as both a static and mobile unit supplied on tracks. According to trials by UNTHA, the machine can produce fines as low as 5%.

UNTHA’s product manager Christoph Lahnsteiner said: “This shredder was designed to be flexible, it’s important that we offer clients the option to move the kit around their production facility, should they need to.

“It can also process other material streams such as C&I waste, bulky waste or production materials which maximises the return for operators who may not always have enough wood to shred.”

The company claims that this method of handling material makes operation easier for the vehicle’s driver.

The 22-tonne tracked excavator is reinforced at ground level by Economic Skips’ recent addition to its fleet, the 437 T4i Wastemaster wheeled loader.

The London-based company has provided waste management services for businesses in Greater London since the early 1970s.

Chris Guinnelly, Economic Skips’ plant and yard manager, said: “We’ve been using the JS220 for this task for over a year now and are delighted with how well it handles the difficult job and tough environment.

“The hydraulic raised cab means we can position the machine above the waste and see into the hopper we’re loading making it safer and more efficient.”
