Kiverco has completed construction and handed over a new £16 million construction, demolition and industrial (CD&I) waste recycling plant for McKinstry Group.

The new plant, located in Country Antrim, Northern Ireland, has been developed to support McKinstry Group’s ongoing growth and strengthen its waste processing capabilities.

Kiverco said the handover follows an extensive programme of design, manufacturing and installation, delivered in close collaboration with McKinstry Group to ensure the facility met the specific operational requirements of the site.

Darren McKinstry, Managing Director at McKinstry Group, commented: “This new plant represents a major investment in the future of our business.

“Working with Kiverco has allowed us to develop a plant that is built around our material, our site and our long-term ambitions.

“The new facility will help us increase capacity, improve efficiency and recover more valuable materials from the waste we process.”

The facility has been designed to process high volumes of mixed waste, enabling McKinstry to recover a broader range of recyclable materials while improving throughput and material quality.

According to Kiverco, the plant has been engineered to improve material flow across the site, increase recovery rates and provide greater visibility and control throughout the recycling process.

A key feature of the plant is its advanced screening and separation system, including a 3D trommel, which is designed to improve the efficiency of sorting and maximise the capture of valuable materials.

Digital technology has also been integrated throughout the system, allowing operators to monitor performance in real time and make operational adjustments to optimise efficiency.

Kiverco said the technology will help McKinstry adapt as waste streams evolve and operational demands change.

By increasing the recovery of cleaner, higher-quality materials, the facility is expected to improve the value of output streams and support stronger long-term returns on investment.

John Irwin, Managing Director at Kiverco, said: “Completing and handing over this £16 million plant to McKinstry Group is a proud moment for everyone at Kiverco.”

“The plant brings together robust Kiverco engineering, advanced separation technology, AI-driven technology and digital systems to give McKinstry Group greater visibility, control and performance across their operation.

“We are delighted to have worked with McKinstry Group on such a significant project and look forward to seeing the impact this plant will have on their business for many years to come.”
