Chesterfield goes narrow

Chesterfield council is buying a Dennis Eagle Phoenix 2 short wheelbase narrow refuse vehicle after complaints from residents about missed collections in areas with narrow streets and parked cars.

It may add further short wheeled vehicles if they prove necessary.

Environmental services director John Porter said: “We have had increasing access problems, which have caused complaints from residents. We will probably gather all the difficult areas into one round over the course of a week.”

The authority is also buying a 32 tonne vehicle, probably for use in its Staveley neighbourhood centre.
