The three day festival takes place this weekend (25-27 August) at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, with part of the race being run through the Laverstoke Composting site, with the approval of the Environment Agency.

The 2,500 acres organic/biodynamic farm, near Overton – which played host to ITV1’s Sugar Free Farm – is owned by ex-racing driver and 1979 Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter.
Mr Scheckter is using the opportunity to raise awareness over the issue of plastic ending up within green waste which can lead to contamination of compost made from the green waste. This is an issue which is currently a key focus of the Organics Recycling Group (see letsrecycle.com story).
The ORG has recently called for councils to do more to prevent the public from putting plastics in with their garden waste. Now, Mr Scheckter is himself emphasising the importance of keeping all types of plastics out of green waste for recycling.
Important
A number of posters have been designed by Mr Scheckter to highlight the issue, which will be displayed around the site. Mr Scheckter told letsrecycle.com: “I hope to be able to explain to visitors how important it is to keep plastics out of green waste. Plastics in terms of contamination are a big issue globally and it is also terrible to see so much pollution in the seas.” And, visitors are told that by using compost in their gardens: “you are also doing your bit to protect our fragile planet and helping to lower your carbon footprint”.

One of the posters illustrates the process which the green waste goes through at the seven-acre Laverstoke site to be turned into compost.
CarFest is a motoring festival held in Hampshire (CarFest South) and Cheshire (CarFest North). It was founded by the radio presenter Chris Evans in 2012, and raises funds for Children in Need.
CARNATIONS
This year the theme on the track sprint is ‘CAR-NATIONS’. There will be more than 60 cars from six of the biggest manufacturing nations: Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the USA and Japan. Highlights include Aston Martin’s Vulcan representing Britain, a 2004 Formula 1 BAR Honda from Japan and a 1931 US Stock Car.
There will also be music from Manic Street Preachers, Seasick Steve, Tom Odell, Rick Astley and many others.
