The worker, who was described by police as a delivery driver, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with head and neck injuries following the incident in Broad Acres, Leckwith.

He was delivering 140-litre wheeled bins to households in the area as part of Cardiff council’s plan to reduce residual waste capacity.
An eyewitness said the truck’s back door opened and a ‘stack of bins’ toppled on him.
Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Police attended the incident at around 9.08am. A Police spokeswoman said: “It appeared that a wheelie bin had fallen on a delivery driver.”

The man is understood to work for logistics firm TJK, believed to be carrying out bin deliveries on behalf of the council’s contractor MGB Plastics.
MGB Plastics is part of the OnePlastics Group which also includes Straight Ltd.
Speaking to letsrecycle.com, the council said the contractor was ‘liable for the safety of their own employees’.
When contacted by letsrecycle.com, MGB Plastics declined to comment on the incident. TJK was unavailable for comment.
The decision to roll out smaller refuse bins in Cardiff over the summer has angered some of the city’s residents, who have protested changes to their service. The council argues that slimmer bins will encourage more recycling (see letsrecycle.com story).
