Boateng given landfill tax duty in Treasury allocations

The Treasury has released details of which ministers are to handle specific topics and The Financial Secretary, Paul Boateng MP, has been given responsibility for the landfill tax.

Among his other duties he is the departmental Minister for Customs and Excise and will also cover a range of environmental issues. These include tax and other economic instruments, urban regeneration and transport taxes, including climate change levy, aggregates levy, road fuel (and other mineral oil) duties, taxation of company cars, vehicle excise duty and air passenger duty.

The Treasury is continuing a review of the Landfill Tax and the Landfill Tax Credits Scheme.
