Paldeep Bhatti to take helm at Kent Resource Partnership
Paldeep Bhatti has been appointed as Kent Resource Partnership’s (KRP) new manager, taking over from Paul Vanston who is leaving the organisation this month.

Mr Bhatti was previously projects officer for the KRP – the body representing the 13 Kent local authorities on waste issues.
His role saw him take the lead on Kent-wide projects including the MetalMatters communications campaign to 2012, the coordination of health and safety training in partnership with CIWM experts during 2013 and 2014 and most recently working with WRAP on the delivery of a ‘Recycle Now’ communications campaign to Kent residents.
In his new role, Mr Bhatti has said he will prioritise the ‘big ticket’ goals agreed by the KRP Members Board. This will focus on further optimisation of collections in Kent, prioritised focus on waste reduction, increasing the quantities and quality of recyclates collected across Kent and securing further benefits from partnership working within the councils, and with national partners.
Mr Vanston is moving on to become head of waste resources for South Cambridgeshire district council and Cambridge city council having worked in the role for over seven years.
Commenting on the promotion, Mr Bhatti said: “I am really pleased to take up the KRP Manager role. Councillors wish this partnership to be ambitious, to grasp nettles, and work collaboratively with public and private sector partners. I’ve enjoyed playing my part on these to date, and now welcome the opportunity to go into another gear.”
Paul Vanston, outgoing KRP manager said: “I’m delighted Paldeep secured this appointment on merit. The two of us have been a KRP duo for the last five years. I’ve enjoyed working with him, and I know many of our partners have too. His work with councillors, colleagues and communities has been first class. I wish him all the best in his new role.”

Ray Burberry to retire from WAMITAB
Ray Burberry, qualifications manager at waste industry training body WAMITAB has announced he is to retire from the organisation after over 20 years of service.

Mr Burberry joined WAMITAB in 1995 where he overlooked the delivery and qualifications offered by the body and acted as a liaison and link with the government and regulators. His retirement will be effective from the end of March.

Chief executive, Chris James, said: “Ray’s name is almost synonymous with WAMITAB, and it is with a sense of nostalgia that we will say farewell to him after he has served over 20 years with the organisation.
