Laura Anderson appointed to Environmental Standards Scotland Board
Environmental Standards Scotland (ESS) has announced the appointment of Laura Anderson as a Member of its Board, following confirmation by Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy Gillian Martin.
Anderson brings a background in environmental advocacy, communications and community engagement, with experience working across charities and organisations throughout Scotland.
Her work spans digital and public engagement, alongside research into climate resilience and blue-green infrastructure.
Welcoming the appointment, ESS Chair Richard Dixon said: “We are delighted that Laura Anderson has been appointed to the Board of ESS.
“Laura brings scientific expertise, award‑winning climate activism and outstanding communication skills to our Board.
“Her leadership in championing environmental causes – from driving the campaign to ban disposable vapes as Less Waste Laura to advancing research on blue‑green infrastructure and climate resilience through her PhD work – reflects her passion and technical insight on the environment and will strengthen our work at ESS.”
The four-year appointment runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2030, supporting ESS in its role to uphold environmental standards.
Three new employees join Hargreaves Waste Management Services

Hargreaves Waste Management Services has expanded its commercial and operational capability with the appointment of Faye Miller, Lyndsey Faulkner and Danny McShane.
Miller has progressed to Commercial Lead for Tyre and Track Disposal, overseeing the development of specialist services for rubber waste streams.
She originally joined the company in October 2025, and brings experience in electrical and hazardous waste recycling and brokerage, previously working at Waste Experts.
Faulkner joins as Business Development Manager for the Midlands and Wales, bringing experience in glass recycling and supply chain partnerships.
McShane takes on a similar role in the South of England, adding operational expertise from across hazardous and specialist waste services including Veolia and Biffa.

Michael Gibson takes over as CEO of Papilo

Papilo has appointed Michael Gibson as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 April 2026.
Gibson joins from Mitie, where he served as a business unit Managing Director, and succeeds Paul Hodgkiss.
Hodgkiss, who has led the business since 2010, will transition into a strategic role as part of a long-term succession plan.
Hodgkiss commented: “Michael’s experience, track record and passion for our industry make him an outstanding appointment for the business and I am looking forward to working with him as he leads Papilo into the next chapter of its growth story.”
Backed by investor Palatine Impact Fund, Papilo recently completing the acquisition of Allwood Recycling Solutions.
Gibson added: “I am incredibly excited to have joined Papilo. Paul has done an outstanding job in building the business, and I know I have big shoes to fill!
“I am relishing the challenge and I looking forward to working the talented team in the business and building on the excellent partnership with Palatine.”
Recolight appoints Environment Metrics Manager

Recolight has announced the appointment of Flavie Lowres as Environmental Metrics Manager, strengthening its support for the lighting sector’s adoption of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
Lowres joins with experience in Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), EPDs, and circular economy practices within construction products and buildings.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, where she chairs the Construction Materials Group Board, and also serves as Sustainability Champion at the Finishes and Interiors Sector.
Commenting on her appointment, Lowres said: “I have had the pleasure of working closely with Recolight through my role at FIS, jointly delivering sustainability initiatives and training on EPDs. I look forward to continuing this important work.”
Welcoming her to the team, CEO Nigel Harvey added: “Flavie’s detailed knowledge of LCAs and EPDs, and her passion for sustainability mean she is ideally placed to deliver our one-off EPD service, and other sustainability services, to the lighting and wider construction industry.”
Newport Recycling announces leadership changes

Newport Recycling has announced a series of senior leadership appointments as part of a strategic restructure to support continued growth and innovation.
Dawn Tyrer has been appointed Managing Director, effective 1 April 2026. Since joining the business in 2018, she has played a key role in strengthening regulatory compliance and environmental performance, bringing nearly three decades of leadership experience.
Tracey Hamer steps into the role of Head of Commercial, building on over 25 years in the sector and nine years with Newport.
Meanwhile, current Managing Director Matthew Hoare will transition to Chairman, focusing on new ventures while continuing to guide the family-run business.
Hoare said: “With Dawn and Tracey stepping into these key roles, we are perfectly positioned to combine our family values with innovative thinking, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to sustainability.”
