Ex-ESA chief to help shape RWM strategy
The organisers of the annual RWM exhibition, i2i Events Group have chosen Barry Dennis to be the first RWM chairman.
Recently retired as director general of the Environmental Services Association (ESA), Mr Dennis is to work with the RWM team “to help shape the strategic direction of the event which is designed to support and showcase the innovations in the recycling and waste management industry”.
With more than 50 years in the industry, i2i Events said Mr Dennis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise with him.
Mr Dennis said: “Whilst the industry is undoubtedly going through a period of rapid change, the RWM team works hard year-on-year to showcase innovations from all sectors of the marketplace. I am incredibly honoured to be given the role of chairman and intend to work collaboratively with the industry to ensure this event goes from strength to strength, meeting the needs of its exhibitors, visitors and the community as a whole.”
Russell Bacon, portfolio director – environment at i2i, added: “Barry is an industry champion who has worked tirelessly over many years to further the waste sector’s cause with government.”
Additionally, Barry will support the team of RWM Ambassadors comprising 22 leading experts from organisations including Unilever, Nestle, SITA and CIWM, who meet regularly to discuss key waste and resource efficiency issues and provide insight and advice on the development of the event.

Intern secures CK Group post
Alison Jacquemin has been juggling university studies in France with an internship in the UK at plastic recycling company CK Group.
In November 2014, she finally graduated from her five year course with a Masters in Economics and Engineering, with a in specialty International Business from ESPAS – Ecole Superieure Privee d’Application des Sciences) at University Catholic of Lille, France, and has now secured a full time appointment with CK Group as a commercial executive and purchasing assistant.
Commenting, Ms Jacquemin said: “I have always known that I wanted to live in the UK after my university degree so it was important to find a suitable internship. My university initially did not think balancing work, studies and the amount of travelling required to fulfill a UK internship would be good for me, but I have I eventually convinced them that I would be able to cope and that working at CK Group would be a fantastic career opportunity. Learning that my hard work and commitment has lead to a full time job has been amazing.”
Mark Whitney, managing director of CK Group, added: “I am pleased that we have been able to help Alison supplement her academic with practical experience working at CK Group. Her internship has enabled her to work in all departments in order to gain a more in-depth understanding of the plastics recycling industry.”

Ian Lewis steps up at MOBA
Ian Lewis, previously MOBA UK’s general manager, has been promoted to the post of managing director and the company said this “reflects the growing importance the UK subsidiary is now playing in worldwide MOBA group of companies”.
Highlighting growth in the company, Mr Lewis commented: “Our credit for outstanding sales performance must go to our growing team as well as our established range of products that are starting to transform the conservative, yet under-developed, waste market.”
He added: “Although the waste sector will continue to be challenging 2015, we believe that waste contractors firmly see the benefits that weighing systems deliver that will help them save money and become more efficient by implementing pay-as-you-throw services for commercial customers”, added Ian.
Other appointments include additional, northern-based, service engineers, plus new software project engineers, all of whom will enable MOBA to boost its customer service offering and help the company market its sophisticated vehicle weighing systems for waste industry.

With its headquarters in Limburg, Germany, and branch offices in Dresden and Langenlonsheim, MOBA operates eight subsidiaries worldwide together with an international dealer network. Over the last decade the company’s turnover increased from 26 million euros in 2004 to more than 54 million euros in 2014, with employee numbers growing from 210 in 2004 to 482 in 2014.

New finance chief for Green Investment Bank
The UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) has announced the appointment of Peter Knott as chief financial officer and Laurence Mulliez as a new non-executive director.
Mr Knott takes up the new executive director role from his existing position as chief risk officer at GIB. He will join chief executive Shaun Kingsbury as the only other executive director on GIB’s independent board.
Mr Mulliez, said the bank, is an experienced chief executive with a proven track record in renewable energy and he will also sit on GIB’s Investment Committee.
GIB also announced the departure of Rob Cormie as group operations director.
Chief executive of the bank, Shaun Kingsbury said: “Rob has been instrumental in getting GIB up and running. He has put in place the operational and support structure that we needed to come through our start-up phase so successfully. I know he now wants to return to a more transaction focused role and I wish him well in the next phase of his career.”
