REPIC and B2B Compliance will now jointly offer producers the opportunity to sign up with the scheme which will deal with the majority of their waste.
”This move ensures that our members – who may have a minority of products in the business to business sector – can benefit from co-operation between the two parties “
– Philip Morton, REPIC
New regulations under the WEEE Directive will bring different recycling and collection requirements for business WEEE and Consumer WEEE, most producers will predominantly deal with one or the other.
REPIC currently claims to represent over 80% of the consumer products sector – including major domestic appliances, small domestic appliances and consumer electronics. B2B Compliance represents major producers in the business to business sector – including medical devices, monitoring and controlling devices.
Protocol
Under the agreement, producers who produce both business to business and business to consumer waste will only have to sign up with the compliance scheme that will be responsible for the majority of their waste. Under an agreed protocol the other party will handle the compliance for the minority of their products.
