Lincolnshire Police were called to the incident at Mid UK Recycling in Ermine Street, Ancaster, eight miles north east of Grantham, at 5.30pm on Friday (July 19).
The company said it was extremely shocked and saddened by the death but was currently unsure how the incident occurred.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is now investigating and assisting the police with enquiries, but police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A spokeswoman for Mid UK Recycling said: It is with great sadness that we have to report on the death of one of our valued members of staff following an incident at our Ancaster site on Friday (July 19). We are extremely shocked and saddened by this incident and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family.
At this time we are unsure exactly how the incident occurred. An investigation is being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive and we will of course do everything we can to assist with that.

Mid UK Recycling said it was unable to release the employees identity or to comment further while investigations were being carried out.

The waste management company works with businesses and councils to divert a variety of waste from landfill and runs a nationwide, in-house collection fleet.
The firm also operates both a materials recycling facility (MRF) on Station Road in Caythorpe and a recycling centre on Whitley Way in Market Deeping .
Earlier this month, the HSE released provisional data showing that the number of worker deaths in the waste and recycling sector doubled in 2012/13 compared to the previous year a situation it described as both disappointing and worrying (see letsrecycle.com).
