The deal will see William Traceys acquire Orans commercial and industrial customers, primarily in the Edinburgh area, which it says will significantly grow the businesss operations in the central belt of Scotland.
William Traceys also claims that the deal will increase the amount of material entering its materials recycling facilities (MRFs). A number of Oran staff will also transfer to William Tracey Group as part of the deal, the value of which has not been revealed.

Regulations
The acquisition comes as William Traceys and other businesses within Scotland prepare for the start of the Waste (Scotland) Regulations, which come into force on January 1 2014, and place more stringent requirements on businesses to separate waste streams.
After the January 1 start date all organisations and businesses in the country will need to recycle plastic, metal, glass, paper and card or face a fine.
Additionally, the regulations will mean that any food business that produces more than 50kg of food waste each week must present it for separate collection, which will then extend to all food businesses producing 5kg of food waste each week from January 1 2016.
William Traceys has been engaged in a comprehensive communications campaign with customers to prepare them for the start of the new regime, which has included seminars for clients, booklets and other promotional material, branding on collection vehicles, as well as training for drivers and staff to inform customers of their requirements under the regulations (see letsrecycle.com story).
