Flintshire county council and Conwy council are upgrading their systems, after having been supplied with kit by the company in 2012.
Flintshire county council has upgraded its existing system, with the addition of two semi-automatic 40H balers, to its MRF facilities on Spencer’s Industrial Estate, Buckley.
Conwy council has purchased a GB1108FSS aluminium baler, capable of processing 4 tonnes per hour, for its site at Bondlondeb. Conwy council already operates a small MRF system and a mini MRF system for the separation of plastic bottles, cardboard, aluminium cans and steel cans from segregated household waste.
Capacity
Flintshire’s new 40H balers will increase the capacity to process steel and aluminium cans. These are an upgrade from the existing continuous round tin-balers and will allow the council to produce up to three bales per hour. The installation represents a growth in processing capacity for Flintshire county council and is expected to increase income for higher quality recycling materials.
Harvey Mitchell, waste and ancillary services manager at Flintshire council, said: “Flintshire Council is delighted with the equipment that Whitham Mills has installed. We have worked with the company in the past and they have always presented us with hi-tech and reliable equipment.“
Recycling project technician at Conwy council, John Clay added: “At Conwy Council we are committed to delivering excellent recycling performance for local taxpayers. We are currently ranked as third best in Wales and this is because we have invested in equipment and facilities which are appropriate and reliable.”
Whitham Mills’ managing director, Ben Smart, said: “There are few clearer signals of excellent service than received repeat business from customers.
“Our goal is to offer the very best recycling equipment, coupled with matching levels of service and we are pleased to have been able to supply both local authorities once again.”
