The event, set to be held at the capitals Guoman Tower Hotel near Tower Bridge, will focus on the social implications of the revised WEEE directive, agreed by the European Union earlier this year, which European governments will soon be required to transpose into national law.

The conference will highlight the relationship between the revised WEEE Directive and the environment, economy and employment.

Attendees will also be provided with a platform to share knowledge, discussion and debate with other delegates from the WEEE sector, and key note speakers will outline the position of European political institutions and other key stakeholders on the Recast.

Speakers

Speakers at the event include Recycling Minister Lord Taylor of Holbeach, Gunter Pauli founder of environmental research and lobby group Zero Emissions Research & Initiatives (ZERI) and Jim Puckett of toxic waste lobby group Basel Action Network. A full programme will be issued shortly.

Illegal WEEE shipments, critical rare earths and the future of producer responsibility are also topics that will be covered during the two-day event. Attendees will be able to learn more about the new requirements likely to be introduced by the Recast and how it will differ from the current regime.
