The new firm, based in Grangemouth, hopes to offer Thames Water's organic recycling services alongside Oran's liquid and dry waste management. It will specialise in recycling of biosolids such as sewage sludge, liquid waste haulage and skip management.

Oran and Terra Eco Systems are building on their experience working together in recycling projects in the Thames Valley and at Seafield Waste Water Treatment works in Edinburgh.

Ben Ballantyne, general manager UK of the Oran Group said: “We have worked together with Terra Eco Systems on many projects in the past and have established a strong working relationship over the years. Working under the OTW banner, we can offer customers a complete waste management service.”

OTW Services, which will have 30 employees, is already negotiating a “number” of contracts for services from skip management to sludge recycling. It is hoping to secure a four year contract with Scottish Water.

Martin Hammond, General Manager of Terra Eco Systems, said: “Waste management and particularly recycling are currently high on the agenda for many organisations. Through our understanding of existing market demands and expectations, we can work towards continual improvement, providing tailored services.”

He added: “We are looking forward to working with the Oran Group to bring an unrivalled level of expertise to the waste management industry throughout the UK and Ireland.”

The Oran Group, which was formerly known as Snowie, currently employs 320 people across the UK from its headquarters in Stirling. It has a long-running contract with Severn Trent Water to transport and recycle sludge in the Midlands.

Terra Eco Systems, based in Bracknell, meanwhile recycles 1.8 million tonnes of organic material a year, including 100,000 of wastewater sludge from sewage works in the North of England.
