Waste paper sector, Obituary: John J. Dyer

The death has been announced of John. J. Dyer who passed away on Sunday 30th March 2014 aged 85.

John Dyer was a leading light in the waste paper industry for more than 40 years. His career began at J & J Maybank Waste Paper alongside his cousin Jimmy Maybank where he became the managing director with Jimmy as chairman.

He later left J & J Maybank and became an independent waste paper merchant in his own right and enjoyed a long and successful career.

John was one of the founding members of the Independent Waste Paper Processors Association which is now known as the Recycling Association.

He will be sadly missed by his son Paul and daughter Jane Stevensen and five grandchildren and has three surviving brothers, Peter, Tony and David.

John Dyer’s funeral and committal will take place at on Wednesday 16th April – 12.45pm at St Kyneburgha’s, Castor, PE5 7AY and then committal at Peterborough City Crematorium 1.45.

The Dyers still have connections with the waste paper industry. John Dyer’s younger brother Peter Dyer Snr is the father of Peter Dyer who is managing director of Bristol-based Failand Paper Services.
