John Macintyre
John Macintyre, team leader in the waste management division of the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, received an OBE for his work.
Mr Macintyre has had considerable involvement with waste management licensing including work in the 1990s which ended in exemptions for some metal recycling sites. In recent years he has worked on a number of projects, including the disposal consequences of the foot and mouth epidemic.
Jane Stephenson
An MBE has been awarded to Jane Stephenson, chair of Waste Watch. The non profit organisation promotes waste reduction, reuse and recycling. Ms Stephenson is also executive director of the the Recycling Consortium
which provides recycling and waste advice, services and support for communities in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset and is also a not for profit organisation.
This is the second time that an individual involved with Waste Watch has been recognised in an Honours List – former executive director Ray Georgeson, who now works for the Waste and Resources Action Programme, received an MBE in the Millennium list.
