Allerdale council takes delivery of Dennis RCVs
Seventeen Dennis Eagle RCVs have been bought by Allerdale council in Cumbria and put to work collecting domestic waste and recycling.

Sixteen of the vehicles are Elite 6 6×2 narrow rear steer chassis with Olympus 16 bodies and Terberg OmniDEL bin lifts. And one is a smaller 4×2 Olympus 10.
Allerdale borough council’s waste and recycling partner, FCC Environment, will be running the fleet on behalf of the council.
Regional director Kristian Dales, FCC, said: “The new vehicles will help to deliver significant reductions in emissions compared to the current service, delivering cleaner, greener recycling services in the Borough from the outset. The vehicles will be capable of carrying residual waste, mixed recycling, garden waste or paper & card to maximise efficiencies allowing residents to recycle more than ever which is ultimately the result we want.”
Doosan launches enhanced mini-excavator models
Doosan Construction Equipment has announced it is enhancing its range of mini-excavators with the launch of the new Stage V compliant 2.7 tonne DX27z and 3.5 tonne DX35z zero tail swing (ZTS) models.

The new models provide a mix of “superb stability”, smooth controllability and high digging forces, complemented by low weights for easy transportation, the company says.
The DX27z offers the highest flexibility of movements when working close to walls, coupled with 360-degree stability and a low weight for easy transportation. The DX27z combines “excellent performance characteristics” with one of the largest cabs for this size of machine on the market, the company says.
With the optional long arm and a premium cab, the DX27z offers the digging output and operator comfort of much larger excavators, Doosan notes, making it the machine of choice for work in busy urban areas.
West London Composting invests in Wastemaster loader
West London Composting (WLC) has introduced a JCB 457 Wastemaster wheeled loader at its facility near the M40 motorway in Uxbridge, Middlesex.

The JCB 457 Wastemaster will be used to transfer material around the WLC site as it undergoes the composting process.
The JCB 457 Wastemaster, which was supplied to WLC by JCB dealer, Greenshields JCB, features a MTU diesel engine, while its CommandPlus cab delivers operator comfort and productivity.
Portland Stone takes delivery of Volvo material handler
Portland Stone Ltd has taken delivery of a Volvo EW240E material handler for its Broadcroft Waste and Recycling Centre on the Isle of Portland following a successful demonstration and evaluation.

The new Volvo EW240E MHE takes up residence at the company’s Waste Recycling Facility, handling incoming domestic and industrial waste.
“The machine had to meet our criteria for loading the main receiving hopper feeding a trommel and subsequent picking line, as well as loading skips destined for reuse and high-sided bulkers from standing in one position,” explains managing director, Danny Nash. “We were pleasantly surprised at how well the machine performed in accomplishing all of its duties.”
The EW240E MHE will be covered by a Blue service agreement ensuring that it will be correctly maintained at regular intervals by Volvo trained service engineers using genuine Volvo parts, the company says.
