United Glass funds Scottish recycling group&#39s expansion

United Glass has provided 24,000 to help the Recycling Advisory Group Scotland (RAGS) develop its internet site.

The money is part of United Glass's PRN revenues for the past year and part of a number of measures the company is funding to boost the recycling of glass in Scotland. RAGS hopes that by developing their website their members as well as the public and other interested organisations will have greater access to information about recycling in Scotland.

RAGS sees the website as a focus for news, information and comment on recycling and associated issues in Scotland. Iain Gulland, RAGS development manager, said “Having a website is one thing, having a website that is relevant and informing time and time again is another. We are very grateful to United Glass for this money which will allow us to significantly develop our internet presence to meet the needs of our membership and the industry as a whole.”

John Cobring, United Glass's spokesperson on recycling and government affairs, said: “United Glass values the role that RAGS plays in informing and promoting glass, and other material, recycling in Scotland. The group represents the key organisations involved in recycling in Scotland and UG feels by helping RAGS increase its ability to disseminate news and information on behalf of its membership the potential for recycling is greatly increased.”

The Recycling Advisory Group Scotland (RAGS) co-ordinates the promotion of recycling in Scotland and offers a forum for the exchange of information. It's membership is made up of over 85 organisations involved in recycling in Scotland, including local authorities, community recycling groups, private waste management companies and government agencies.
