SITA appoints new regional director

Waste management company SITA has appointed Peter Hathaway from Biffa as its new regional director for the south east.

Following SITA's merger with United Waste earlier this year, Mr Hathaway will play a major role in integrating the SITA and United Waste businesses in the south east. Mr Hathaway, who was previously general manager at Biffa, joined SITA at the beginning of November.

Mr Hathaway said: “It’s an exciting time at SITA, bringing together SITA’s and United Waste’s businesses in the south east offers many business opportunities for the company. I’m looking forward to my new post and to deliver the company’s expectations of greater organic growth.”

SITA hopes to build on the large amount of work it carries out in the south east including the integrated waste management contract with Surrey County Council, the former A&J; Bull businesses and a number of other industrial and commercial contracts.

Mr Hathaway joined Biffa in 1993 as a depot manager and played an instrumental part in integrating UK Waste with Biffa’s business following the purchase of the company in 2000.
