The company says the plant on Southerham Lane, Lewes, is now operating as normal.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 5.05am on Friday (9 April) , where it was reported that approximately 250 tonnes of scrap metal was alight.
Six fire engines attended the scene along with a water carrier, an aerial ladder platform, a command unit and a general purpose truck. Plant machinery was also used to help tackle the fire.
All fire engines left the site at 11.30am, and an re-inspection was carried out at 1pm.
The fire department confirmed to letsrecycle.com that a cause has not yet been determined, and an investigation is underway.
Motorists and locals were also advised to keep doors and windows closed because of the “significant amount of smoke” in the area.

‘Prompt action’
A full statement released by Light Brothers said: “Light Brothers have experienced a fire at their site at Southerham, near Lewes. The fire was detected at approximately 5am and the Site Fire Plan initiated. East Sussex Fire and Rescue were on the scene quickly and their prompt action, along with retaining fire walls ensured that the incident was contained to a stockpile.
“The fire was brought under control and the site is back to full operation. East Sussex fire and rescue service have now left the scene and Light Brothers would like to pass on thanks for their skill and expertise which resulted in the extremely fast containment of the situation.”
