A jury had delivered a guilty verdict last Thursday at Wood Green Crown court, London in the case which was brought against Biffa by the Environment Agency. The case dates back to 2015.

The verdict followed around four hours of deliberation by the jury last week. Evidence from the Environment Agency and from Biffa had been laid before the court during the two-week trial prior to the verdict. Biffa pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His Honour Judge Auerbach had been due to issue a sentence today. However, this has been stayed for at least four weeks with a date yet to be confirmed.
