The film focuses on the customer service shown by staff at household waste and recycling centres in the county, which are run by local recycling firm Donarbon. One scene features staff helping a man to find his car keys after accidentally losing them in a residual waste skip.
A Cambridgeshire spokesman explained: “It is designed to give a brief insight into some of the work carried out everyday by the council and how resident's votes will help shape what amazing things officers will be doing in the future.”
The council has produced a series of films which highlight the work it does in the environment and trading standards sectors.
The films can be viewed on the council's website and also on online video-sharing service You Tube and have been developed to answer residents' questions about the kind of services the council delivers.
Speaking to Cambridgeshire householders Mark Lloyd, chief executive of Cambridgeshire county council, said: “These films should give residents an insight into some of the services delivered everyday by the Council for our communities, such as tackling underage drinking and helping people recycle.
“Your vote will help shape what amazing things the Council will be doing in the future and we want to encourage everyone to exercise their right on June 4. This is the first time the Council has used the web like this to encourage more people to vote. Please do something amazing on June 4 and vote.”
Waste and recycling has already featured in number of party political campaigns for the European elections, also being held on June 4, with both the Green Party and the UK Independence Party making waste a focus of their campaigns (see letsrecycle.com story).
