The deal builds on an existing partnership between the two companies, which began in 2023 through CP Group’s optical sorting division, MSS.
Since then, MSS and Recycleye have jointly delivered more than 23 live installations across the US and Europe, including deployments of the Vivid-AI optical sorter.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Recycleye’s leadership team and staff will remain in place, with the business continuing to operate internationally.
The companies said they will collaborate on expanding sales across both Europe and North America, while maintaining independent divisional structures to serve regional markets.
Terry Schneider, CEO of CP Group, commented: “The combined organisation accelerates AI-enabled sorting and plant control across the full MRF – delivering the performance and purity levels that define the next generation of material recovery.
“The applications for AI-based capabilities are significant in MRF systems, and the Recycleye team will enable us to bring powerful new capabilities to the industry in the months ahead.”
Recycleye AI integrated into MRF technology
The acquisition is expected to unlock technical synergies between CP Group’s equipment integration expertise and Recycleye’s AI-driven vision systems.
Recycleye specialises in high-accuracy computer vision technology used in both robotic and belt-based sorting applications.
Victor Dewulf, CEO of Recycleye, added: “This acquisition creates a significant opportunity for both companies and our customers.
“By combining near-infrared technology with advanced AI, we can deliver higher-quality sorting solutions to the market.
“CPG’s industry expertise will accelerate our growth, supported by Recycleye’s multidisciplinary engineering team working toward the shared goal of extracting value from all waste.”
By aligning technologies across the businesses, the combined group aims to strengthen its position in advanced sorting systems, enabling MRF operators to increase material recovery rates, improve output purity and generate more detailed operational data.
The integrated AI platform allows facilities to analyse material composition in real time, while also reducing reliance on manual sorting roles. It also enhances “last-chance” sorting – typically deployed at the end of processing lines – to capture residual value and improve overall plant efficiency.
Recycleye’s UK-based engineering team will also provide extended 24/7 technical support, expanding service coverage across time zones.
