Recycle Now turns focus to metal and glass

The Recycle Now campaign will focus on metals and glass recycling in the home in March, April and May 2016

Recycle Now – the communications campaign led by WRAP to boost household recycling – will start a three-month drive in March to capture more metal and glass material in the home.

As part of the drive, WRAP has made available a number of template promotional materials for local authorities, including a four-page leaflet, pull-up banners, posters, bus backs, vehicle livery and social media banners.

Tips for residents featured on the posters include putting a bin or bag in the bathroom for recycling, as well as reminders that materials such as bedroom toiletries, tin cans in the kitchen and wine bottles in the lounge can all be recycled.

All of these promotional materials are downloadable from the Recycle Now website and can be tailored to reflect a local authority’s services, allowing for a focus on recycling just glass, just metal or both.

In addition, WRAP said it will make further promotional materials available soon, such as revised ‘how it is recycled’ animations both for cans and for glass bottles and jars, along with a series of ‘local benefit’ posters to supplement those already available for plastics, paper and card.

Councils are also encouraged to share Recycle Now tweets and Facebook posts featuring a range of facts and stats on glass and metal recycling throughout March, April and May.

Recycle Now is currently coming to the end of its most recent three-month focus on household paper and card recycling, which launched in the run up to Christmas 2015 with a series of images and promotional materials (see letsrecycle.com).

Meanwhile, after Recycle Now was refreshed last year, another previous quarterly recycling drive launched for plastic recycling in September 2015, which was dubbed ‘Recycle Plastic – Fantastic!’ (see letsrecycle.com story).
