recycle-more relaunched with more recycling information

Valpak has relaunched recycle-more.co.uk, a website it created in 2000 to fulfil its members' legal requirement to promote recycling to consumers.

Now the packaging waste compliance scheme is aiming to grow recognition of the site as a separate brand “to promote recycling and the awareness of recycling to a broad range of consumers.”

The work of recycle-more.co.uk represents one of the largest national UK recycling campaigns. Others include Rethink Rubbish, currently supported by the Waste and Resources Action Programme; and Planet Ark which is supported by recycle-more and is promoting the recycling of junk mail as well as planning for a national recycling week.
“We have given recycle-more a whole new look, so the website is now even easier
to navigate, even brighter to look at, and even more informative about recycling,”
commented recycle-more Brand Manager Georgina Collins.

Leading
Spokeswoman Penny Peters said that the aim was to reach “not only families and householders, but also schools and businesses.”

A key feature of the site, is a recycling bank locator, which is used by a number of other websites. Valpak said that the site is now the “leading brand offering information and advice to the public”. And, unlike other recycling websites, aimed at the consumer – such as those run by Rethink Rubbish and Waste Watch – recycle-more.co.uk is not supported by public money. “We don't receive government funding and I think we have proved what can be achieved without a lot of money,” Ms Peters pointed out.

Education
Valpak is now aiming to further develop the education side of the site which includes key stage school activities and also its annual Bin to Win competition for schoolchildren.
The site also allows businesses who have more than 100 tonnes of packaging waste to sell to contact Valpak for further details.

Exchange
And, recycle-more.co.uk also invites expressions of interest in waste exchange which is being planned by Valpak subsidiary Valient Materials which is run by general manager Mike Jefferson.
