Mr Humphrys, who presents Radio 4's Today programme, will lead the discussion between a panel of key stakeholders from the waste industry and an audience of CIWM members, delegates, exhibitors and visitors.
Questions for discussion can be emailed, faxed or posted direct on the CIWM website in advance of the debate, as well as being asked on the day.
Dr Jane Beasley, communications manager at the CIWM said: “A Question Time debate such as this is the best way to maximise the involvement of stakeholders in the opening session, providing them with the opportunity to raise their concerns and queries with a respected panel from the industry and we are delighted to have such an experienced chair as John Humphrys leading the session.”
The theme of this year's CIWM Conference and Exhibition, once again being held in Torbay, is 'E;nvironment, Economy, Equality', and topics in the opening debate are likely to include life cycle assessment, product design and producer responsibility.
Taking place over three and a half days, the Torbay conference will see over 500 waste industry professionals and 300 exhibitors gathering to consider the latest innovations and technological developments.
